Product Engineer

Summary of Responsibilities

Take ownership of assigned processes, customer products or projects. Must effectively drive process improvement projects to meet operational goals. Use engineering, lean tools and knowledge to track, analyze and improve productivity, quality, training and safety processes. Will be responsible for owning and driving process validation efforts to prove manufacturing capabilities and consistencies.

Essential Functions (Core duties/tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job)

Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and workflows to identify areas that could benefit from changes and improvements.
Apply working knowledge of manufacturing and appropriate lean tools to the conversion process required for wipes manufacturing.
Create processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary goals as well as performance targets
Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings/projects to ensure collaborating and cohesion with supervisors, maintenance, and other process partners.
Identify and create new solutions to existing manufacturing problems
Communicate appropriate manufacturing related information (written and verbal) to others within Tufco& process partners.
Identify and implement cost, quality, and safety improvements
Utilize appropriate corrective action processes to help resolve customer quality issues.
Work within defined change control process to ensure departmental communication, approvals and execute the validation of any improvements introduced to the operation
Understand and comply with all lockout procedures.
Must work in a safe and ethical manner at all times.

Qualifications:

Education:

A technical degree (BS) is preferred. Manufacturing, Mechanical and Industrial engineers are ideal candidates.

Special Training:

Proven lean tools usage: Kaizen event leadership and participation, CI methods, strong problem solving skills & ideally the ability to teach the tools to others.

Experience:

Need 5 – 7 yrs experience in manufacturing engineering role

Skills:

Can lead small group, setting priorities and improving performance
Excellent judgment/decision making
Work alone/unsupervised as needed
Can work comfortably within an engineering role with internal/external customers & suppliers.
Computer proficiency& Analytical abilities: CAD, MS office, data analysis

Physical Requirements

Position requires climbing, lifting & carrying objects up to 50 pounds, and pushing heavier items. Must be able to work safely in a plant environment where there is forklift traffic, equipment alarms, and around rotating mechanical & electrical equipment. The work environment includes clean room space where appropriate apparel is required. Flexible work hours are required at times to complete projects and interface with all production shifts.

Machine Operator Level 2

2nd (2:30pm – 10:30pm) & 3rd (10:30pm – 6:30am) shifts Monday – Friday

Summary of Responsibilities

Machine operators are responsible for the operating of converting and packaging equipment.  They will work within a team to produce products and quality at or above quality expectations driven by work orders and product specifications.  They will adjust equipment as needed to respond to feedback provided by the line quality technician present on the production line.  The operators will also use a mechanical aptitude to assist in planned maintenance events as well as support R&D on new internal and external driven projects within Tufco.

 

Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

  •  Operate and/or support a wet or dry wipe converting line at communicated performance standards while maintaining quality expectations.
  • Have knowledge of: emergency stops, main electrical disconnects, interlocks, main air supply and air dump valves, as well as understand and comply with all lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Be capable of making mechanical adjustments and alter machine settings as necessary to maintain performance and quality as raw material inputs change.
  • Safe and acutely aware of people, equipment, and environment in the work place
  • Monitor and verify the quality of product periodically throughout the run.
  • Maintain/follow all 5S concepts established for the manufacturing area.
  • Ensures that all production reporting and data collection is completed in a timely manner.

  • Provides direction to crew members working on the line.
  • Ensure machines operate at optimal efficiency, minimizing downtime.
  • Perform maintenance on production equipment whenever necessary.
  • Ensure machine setup before each run and tear down after each run.
  • Monitor quality of the products, notifying appropriate personnel of any defects.
  • Ensure that all production reporting and data collection is completed in a timely manner.
  • Look for ways to create continuous improvement.
  • Count products being packaged and placing correct number into boxes.
  • Monitor date code quality and date changes.
  • Prepare product for shipping as needed.
  • Maintain production standards.
  • Responsible for area housekeeping.
  • Must interact with and support other members of the manufacturing team.

ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN

Summary of Responsibilities

The E&I engineering position and functional duties are to support the Core operations through assistance in maintenance, preventative maintenance and continuous improvements to the assets. Additionally, the E&I engineer will build capability in the maintenance department and operations with respect to technical aspects of the assets.

The E&I engineer shall assist and lead Capital improvement projects and represent Tufco on all Contract Manufacturing projects through Commercialization. Including, but not limited to Vendor site and Tufco site Validation, Contract Engineering Management, Scope and technical definition of processes relating to the field.

Essential Functions (Core duties/tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job)

Assists in ensuring all process equipment is running and controlled to maximum efficiencies throughout the mill.
Assist/lead in center-lining and control capabilities of assets.
Provides assistance to maintenance in the E&I areas.
Maintenance, design, and direction with the PLC systems and other Control/electrical distribution systems, trouble shooting and repairs.
Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering to support Plant activities, including design, specification, production of drawings, capital project support and management.
Build capabilities in the support and operations staffing.
Ability to support and interact effectively in a “self-directed” Collegial Team environment.

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

MAINTENANCE MECHANIC

Summary of Responsibilities

Position requires the knowledge and ability to effectively and efficiently troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain production, manufacturing, and building and support equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Understand and interpret written and oral instructions, comprehend and make inferences from written material, read and interpret machine and building blue prints.
  • Complete work orders in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Responsible for all machine maintenance with safety and functionality as a focus.
  • Identify machine parts needed for repair or stocking and inform MRO Buyer.
  • Perform work from an arial platform scissors or boom lift in a safe, effective and efficient manner.
  • Identify and report problems and possible solutions regarding the efficiency and functionality of production assets.
  • Assist electricians when necessary with the mechanical aspects of the job.
  • Understand and comply with all lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Analyze test results, machine error messages, and information obtained from operators in order to diagnose equipment problems.
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment, and machinery.
  • Disassemble machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs.
  • Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear.
  • Observe and test the operation of machinery and equipment in order to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters and other testing devices.
  • Operate newly repaired machinery and equipment to verify the adequacy of repairs.
  • Reassemble equipment after completion of inspections, testing, or repairs.
  •  Repair and maintain the operating condition of industrial production and processing machinery and equipment.
  •  Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment.
  • Study blueprints and manufacturers’ manuals to determine correct installation and operation of machinery.
  • Cut and weld metal to repair broken metal parts, fabricate new parts, and assemble new equipment.
  •  Demonstrate equipment functions and features to machine operators.
  •  Enter codes and instructions to program computer-controlled machinery.
  • Record and report parts and materials used, and order or requisition new parts and materials as necessary.
  • Record and report repairs and maintenance performed.

Secondary Duties

  • May be required to travel off-site:
    • for the purpose of training and information gathering to support the implementation of new production equipment.
