Operations Manager

Summary of Responsibilities

Guide Tufco’s manufacturing processes with a focus on Quality, Safety and (lean, efficient and effective) production; so that customers are attracted to the company for its industry benchmark standards in cost/quality/supply and wipes production predictability based operating expertise.

 

Essential Functions  

  • Responsible for all Contract Manufacturing wipes operations
  • Responsible for specific Departments assigned by Vice President of Operations
  • Make certain that customer production schedules are met on time and at specification.
  • Participate in customer and site production planning meetings.
  • Ensure all wipes departments and cell systems are operating at standard.
  • Champion the concepts of continuous process improvement and make all employees believers that quality and safety are everyone’s responsibility.
  • Orchestrate the Contract Wipes Operations in a proactive manner.
  • Work closely with the Operation support teams, continuous improvement teams and the various other Tufco departments.
  • Maintain a high level of visibility.
  • Act as mentor and role model to Supervisors, engineers and floor associates.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing Best Practices
  • Establish and maintain an effective and continuous open, multi-directional communication system within and between Operations and the other departments.
  • Manage, guide, and direct the Supervisory Team
  • Establish and maintain best practices and process control through SOP development, training and oversight via first articles and centerline.

Education:

 

A minimum of a BS degree in Engineering, Business Management, or other related discipline is strongly preferred.  Minimum of 7 years of broad based manufacturing experience is a must.

-ISO Certification process training desired

-6σ/Lean Manufacturing training desired

 Experience:

At least 7 years of positive plant/operations management experience.

Electrical Instrumentation Technician

Summary of Responsibilities

 

The E&I engineering position and functional duties are to support the Core operations through assistance in maintenance, preventative maintenance and continuous improvements to the assets.  Additionally, the E&I engineer will build capability in the maintenance department and operations with respect to technical aspects of the assets.

 

The E&I engineer shall assist and lead Capital improvement projects and represent Tufco on all Contract Manufacturing projects through Commercialization.  Including, but not limited to Vendor site and Tufco site Validation, Contract Engineering Management, Scope and technical definition of processes relating to the field.

 

 

Essential Functions (Core duties/tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job)

  • Assists in ensuring all process equipment is running and controlled to maximum efficiencies throughout the mill.
  • Assist/lead in center-lining and control capabilities of assets.
  • Provides assistance to maintenance in the E&I areas.
  • Maintenance, design, and direction with the PLC systems and other Control/electrical distribution systems, trouble shooting and repairs.
  • Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering to support Plant activities, including design, specification, production of drawings, capital project support and management.

Material Handler/Forklift Operator

Summary of Responsibilities

Safely and efficiently move raw and finished materials within the manufacturing, shipping/receiving and warehouse facilities.  Load and unload trucks and remove waste materials from the facility.  Generate necessary paperwork.

Essential Functions

  • Follow all Warehouse department Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Correctly identify quantities, proper coding and damaged goods.
  • Perform Inventory cycle counts on Tufco and client inventory levels.
  • Pass receiving paperwork on to appropriate people for data entry.
  • Stock inbound deliveries in “first in, first out” (FIFO) order.
  • Inspect and test shipments for quality defects when required.
  • Deliver stock to work stations for production.
  • Remove unused and finished goods from workstations.
  • Drive forklift to move goods.
  • Adapt to new methods, procedures, or equipment and meet customer requirements.
  • Recognize and notify management of any potential mechanical or electrical problem that could seriously damage equipment or employees.

Line Leader/Laborer

Summary of Responsibilities

 

Assigned to a specific product line. Works with the machines and equipment of the product line and performs the various manual tasks needed in the manufacturing of the products to help ensure that production schedules are met. Works as a productive member of a manufacturing team.

 

Essential Functions

 

Provides direction to crew members working on the line.
Ensure machines operate at optimal efficiency, minimizing downtime.
Perform maintenance on production equipment whenever necessary.
Ensure machine setup before each run and tear down after each run.
Monitor quality of the products, notifying appropriate personnel of any defects.
Ensure that all production reporting and data collection is completed in a timely manner.
Look for ways to create continuous improvement.
Count products being packaged and placing correct number into boxes.
Monitor date code quality and date changes.
Prepare product for shipping as needed.
Maintain production standards.
Responsible for area housekeeping.
Must interact with and support other members of the manufacturing team.

Line Quality Technician

Summary of Responsibilities

 

Perform quality techniques to track, analyze and report on materials, processes and products to ensure they meet the company or customer’s quality standards. The duties performed are in accordance with specifications and product/material requirements. Use a variety of analytical and precision measuring instruments. Decision-making regarding the results is also part of the everyday routine of the technician.

 

Essential Functions

 

Serve as the main line resource for quality issues
Make go / no go decisions ( or contact the appropriate people) on material quality questions
Monitor quality analysis and make appropriate adjustments to equipment using Quality Windows or Excel
Proactively look for ways to improve product quality
Perform written and verbal communication with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing personnel using the following techniques: (First Article, Suspect Product Report, Out-of-Specification Variable/Attribute testing, Logbook entries)
Perform the raw material and finished product Hold/Reject process. (Determination and Documentation)
Perform finished product evaluations in accordance with the Target – Acceptable – Marginal – Unacceptable criteria.
Assist Manufacturing, Customer Service and Purchasing in the running of raw material and finished product trial and experimental orders.
Trained and Qualified in the operation of the each of the following pieces of equipment and the associated operating procedure: (Includes Calibration)
Micrometer
Scales/Balance
Rulers/Calipers
Trained and Qualified in the following Lab Testing methods:
Bar Code Scanning
Participate in the training of new Quality Technicians.
Walk the floor and assist manufacturing with any product, material, quality, and process or specification issues. (Online Inspections).
Gather the appropriate test results and information available and use good judgment within their decision-making responsibility.
Perform detailed Customer Audits for compliance.

Machine Operator

Summary of Responsibilities

Machine operators are responsible for the operating of converting and packaging equipment. They will work within a team to produce products and quality at or above quality expectations driven by work orders and product specifications. They will adjust equipment as needed to respond to feedback provided by the line quality technician present on the production line. The operators will also use a mechanical aptitude to assist in planned maintenance events as well as support R&D on new internal and external driven projects within Tufco.

Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to:

Operate and/or support a wet or dry wipe converting line at communicated performance standards while maintaining quality expectations.
Have knowledge of: emergency stops, main electrical disconnects, interlocks, main air supply and air dump valves, as well as understand and comply with all lockout/tag out procedures.
Be capable of making mechanical adjustments and alter machine settings as necessary to maintain performance and quality as raw material inputs change.
Safe and acutely aware of people, equipment, and environment in the work place
Monitor and verify the quality of product periodically throughout the run.

Assist and follow directions given from Line Leads and with setup and cleanup of production processes.
Support machine operator with machine maintenance if requested/required.

Must work in a safe and ethical manner at all times.
Utilize time effectively during down time periods
